Brave Return is about the rebirth and cultivation of our inner most nature and our highest selves, but also it’s about the courage to go forward and own that higher power and cement it as our full and only reality.

It represents the rebirth of an old soul. A magical transmission is underway as this old entity grows a new body, is charged with energy and then in a flash warps into the world of the living, ready once again to make its way through a life wrought with joy and challenge, turmoil, with love and loss and with sickness and death and eventually rebirth again.

This painting’s conception began in Iquitos, Peru. I was in ceremony with ayahuasca and at a very intense point one night, the vision came to me; I was delivering myself from the cosmic womb of Great Mother. The adult me was then able to raise this new-born self and fuse him with nurturing lessons and support as he grew to be a man and eventually re-merge with my current self. It was a classic vision of “reparenting”. Powerful. The vision was so fantastic that I couldn’t possibly capture it the way that I really had experienced it, but I did my best here.
