If I had $20 for every time a painting started as one thing and then became something entirely different, I’d retire early. This was of course another one of those paintings. It was flipped 180 degrees and was entirely a different concept. I think all of the energies that go into a work are vital and meant to be. They all contribute to the creative process and shape any given painting.

“To the Surface” is one of those semi-abstracts that has a very oceanic feel to it and I see a powerful psychedelic jellyfish swimming towards the surface. What do you see?
