This is another oil painting from the year I spent working in the back of my dad’s Arkansas metal shop.

I produced hundreds of works that year. Many small, experimental, weird, fast and furious, with a handful of larger primary pieces such as this one, which I consider a respectable painting in its own right, not just another experiment.

I think the sun was on my mind because it gets hot in Arkansas and the old metal shop was more an oven than anything. In the summer months Its inhabitants were just iron in a very large forge.
