The spirit of the forest is alive in this work. It explodes in a cornucopia of some of my favorite local forest creatures; bear, owl, deer, rabbit, fox, snake, butterfly, and even the not-so-local firefly. Being from the Pacific Northwest, where there is an ever increasing danger of fire which threatens the the forests and the creatures who dwell there, I couldn’t help but try and tell that story. The animals must flee or parish in the relentless fire, shown here surrounding and framing the creatures.
